Psychiatric nurse practitioner

I am a board-certified psychiatric nurse practitioner who graduated from the University of Alaska Anchorage with my Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 2013. I later went back and completed my master’s to become a nurse practitioner. I perform psychiatric evaluations, prescribe medication, and provide psychotherapy.

Nursing has let me serve our communities in Alaska from Southcentral to Southeast, and to our remote Native Villages. I have worked in community health, primary care, inpatient psych, and assisted living homes. I specialized in mental health because I love everyone’s unique stories and the complexity of the mind and our behavior.

I utilize the biopsychosocial framework, this allows me to incorporate all aspects of you as an individual to develop a holistic treatment plan.

This may include medication which is an important and effective tool. There are also non-pharmacologic approaches that may be of benefit to you. I like to work with you to integrate healthy lifestyle techniques such as nutrition and physical activity into your daily routine.

During visits I incorporate different therapies, active listening, and mindfulness-based approaches. My aim is to create a safe space, provide you options, and cultivate skills that allow you to reach mental wellbeing.
